We are proud to announce that beginning in 2015,
Attorney Patrick Block will be mentoring a new lawyer in connection with the Oregon State Bar
Association. The program connects incoming lawyers with attorneys that
are well-established in the legal community.
What is the OSB mentorship program?
Any attorney that becomes a member of the Oregon bar beginning in 2011
is welcomed to the profession by their personal mentor that helps them
develop the skills and judgment necessary to become a lawyer. Attorneys
are matched with one another based on existing relationships they have
with one another or the Oregon State Bar makes a match from their geographic
location and particular area of interest. The new lawyer and their mentor
will have at minimum a 90-minute meeting every month for a period of a
year to a year and a half.
When an attorney and their mentor work together, they are developing:
- An introduction to the legal community;
- Basic skills in their practice area;
- Successful client relationships;
- Professional conduct and competency;
- Law office management skills; and
- A work/life balance.
Attorneys chosen to be a mentor must be a member of the Oregon State Bar
in good standing, have practiced law for a minimum of five years, be ethically
and professionally competent, have no pending disciplinary actions, and
have been appointed by the Oregon Supreme Court.
This mentor program is an extremely effective way for new lawyers to develop
the practical skills they need moving forward in their careers. It allows
new attorneys to transition from student of law to practitioner, and gives
them a first-hand look at what contributes to a successful career.
With over 20 years of legal experience, Attorney Block is a natural choice
for the mentorship program. Not only has he recovered millions of dollars
in successful claims for his clients, but he has received numerous recognitions
for his legal abilities. He is a member of The National Trial Lawyers:
Top 100 Trial Lawyers and was included in the 2014
Oregon Super Lawyers® list. As a seasoned attorney who remains active in the legal community,
Attorney Block can help guide a new lawyer to success.
